Set on the edge of a swimming hole, Yerxa Town is a rustic venue in a lush oasis with palms, gardens and water features. Located on the Mission Creek fault, natural hot springs provide for native plant species visible along the dunes. Located south of Desert Hot Springs, this remote airstrip is in a natural desert environment with little around it besides sand and native desert flora. Views by day are of windmills and the nearby mountains; by night are of the city on the hill. Approximately 1,000 feet in length, the airstrip, owned by Mission Springs Water District, was once used by helicopter and small planes.

Affording spectacular views of the San Jacinto and San Gorgonio mountains, the Furbee Aquatic Center features a large pool (25 yards x 25 meters), 250 square foot children’s splash pad, 3,000 square foot playground area, shaded spectator areas, shower/locker rooms, two team rooms and administrative offices. Located on Cholla Drive near Desert Hot Springs High School, the aquatic center shares space with a 22,000 square foot Boys and Girls Club and 8.500 square foot medical/dental clinic. Built in 2012, the aquatic center was named in honor of Desert Hot Springs pioneer and community leader John Furbee, who donated the property. The pool is heated by solar energy in the winter and is used for the California Interscholastic Federation High School Water Polo and Swimming Competition.
